B-2 Spirit (Stealth Bomber)

The Northrob Grumman B-2 Spirit is big, invisible and expensive. It's distinctive for is immediately recognizable as "The Stealth Bomber". Originally created as a cold war weapons delivery system, the program was cut from an original 165 aircraft to 21, one of which was destroyed in an accident in 2008 leaving only 20 in service.

This has been my most complex model so far... yes more complex than the Space Shuttle. (I've been asked that a few times.) Getting the angles right was difficult, but fun. I ended up sandwiching the "wing layer" between two layers and fastening them together with technics. That makes the overall infrastruction of the plane very sturdy, although it's large enough to be unwieldy and fragile in other ways.

In the images, I created 80 500 pound bombs for it, but they're not included in the instructions or the set.

xxdeadlyshadowxx,

you are incorrect about your claim. While the Germans did create a flying wing, it was nothing like the B2. The German version was a quad or tri prop fighter plane that had no stealth capabilities (unless you count the camouflage on the plane). also the plane only had machine guns. if you were correct, the Germans would have to have had the most technologically advanced computer system of the time. and they had just invented the jet engine. we did take the designs of the jet engine, but we never found any stealth aircraft design at all. you combined the German jet fighters and the German flying wing into an impossible design at the time. even if they did have a jet flying wing, it would not be able to maintain flight because it has no tail to create stability at the speed of a jet at that time. the B2 requires advanced computers to maintain stability.
